Mark & Sarah McDaniel are the owners of Oak & Amethyst. With our little Eleanor in tow, we have traveled far and wide in search of the best crystals. We have met many rockhounds, geologists, and crystal practitioners in our journeys, and have made it our passion to collect and offer some of our best specimens, carvings, and tumbles to our patrons. Why Oak & Amethyst?
What's in a name? For us, the name Oak & Amethyst represents where we come from as well as what we hope to become in the future.
Amethyst is a popular "gateway" stone, often serving as someone's introduction to the wider world of crystals. In fact, it was the first gemstone that Mark was introduced to as well! Additionally, amethyst is associated with clarity, intuition, open mindedness, and manifestation, making it a perfect catalyst for the transformation we hope to facilitate for our customers. Our shop is filled with a variety of amethyst pieces, from raw geodes to intricate carvings and jewelry.
On the other hand, oak is often called the "king of trees" for its long lifespan and ability to weather even the strongest storms. Oak trees are commonly associated with strength, protection, and endurance. This symbolism resonates with us as small business owners as we hope to create a lasting and positive presence in our community. You’ll also notice our appreciation for oak as you browse our store; many of our displays are made from vintage oak furniture, reinforcing the connection between our space and the natural world.
And why do we call ourselves Oak & Amethyst instead of Amethyst & Oak? That's simple—it just sounds better!
